A tip for checking the health of your feet1

Tips for checking the health of your feet

Keep the wound clean

Even the most flexible people might have trouble checking the bottoms of their feet.

Follow these steps if you don’t have a family member or caregiver who can help:

  1. Lean a mirror against a wall. The bottom should be 3 to 4 inches from the baseboard

  2. Sit in a chair and look at the reflection of your feet in the mirror

  3. Check for sores, cracks, cuts, bruises, redness, or anything that doesn’t look quite right

  4. Even if something seems minor to you, report it to your health care provider
